How to Use

Step One: Shampoo

In a bath, shower, or outdoor space, wet your pet from head to toe ensuring to avoid the eyes and mouth.  Lather the soap in your hand and massage the shampoo into your pet's coat and skin, be sure to avoid the face as this can cause irritation and discomfort. Rinse immediately and thoroughly with clean water. Do not let the shampoo sit on the skin for an extended period of time.

Step Two: Conditioner

While your pet is still wet, gently stroke the Conditioner Bar directly onto your pet's fur in the direction their hair grows. A light stroke is enough to apply the necessary amount of conditioner. Gently massage the conditioner into your pet's skin and coat. Rinse thoroughly with clean water. Do not let the conditioner sit on the skin for an extended period of time.

Step Three: Skin Rescue Lotion

For general itchiness, hot spots, seborrhea, or even in severe cases of black skin disease (Alopecia X) or significant hair loss, massage the soothing lotion well into the affected areas twice daily for an initial 1 week period, and thereafter only once per day. Slip a soft t-shirt or similar covering on your pet to ensure that the lotion remains on the skin. When disease is under control, switch to Hot Spot Salve to treat stubborn or difficult-to-heal sores or spots.

Step Four: Hot Spot Salve

For hot spots, minor wounds, insect bites, localized allergic reactions and itchy or inflamed areas, dab on a small amount of DERMagic Salve topically once or twice per day until symptoms disappear. Keep DERMagic handy for those small bites or cuts to prevent infection.

Step Five: Cell Restoration Crème

After the skin heals and fur begins to grow back, massage in DERMagic Cell Restoration Crème as needed to soften and protect new skin, to complete the healing process and to combat dry, flaky skin. This step speeds cell regeneration and boosts cellular immunity to prevent reinfection. It's great for cracked pads or chapped noses in winter and scorched feet in summer.

After Use:

The Dead Sea Anti-Dandruff Salt Scrubs complement the DERMagic Bar System and enhance its healing properties by providing deep exfoliation and detoxification of the skin just prior to bathing. The therapeutic essential oils are both relaxing for your pet and stimulating to the skin.

Try the Grooming Spritz to maintain a fresh, smooth coat between baths!

Don't bathe your pet too often! For healthy pets, we recommend bathing a maximum of twice a month, or whenever they get dirty, whichever is longest between baths.

Note: Always consult with your veterinarian before beginning any skin treatments to ensure that any underlying causes for skin issues have been ruled out.

FAQs

I recently read that people shampoo shouldn't be used on pets. Why not?

Never use anything on your pet that is made for people! The difference is people have a different pH for their skin and hair. People are more acidic (pH 1-7) and dogs have a more alkaline skin and coat (pH 7-14). DERMagic liquid and bar shampoos and conditioners are carefully pH-balanced for pets and will not dry or irritate their skin.

My pet has really bad dandruff. How do I get rid of it?

Dandruff can be caused by many things. Examples are often as simple as an imbalance in the pH of the skin or from poor quality shampoo. To get rid of it fast, use our DERMagic Dead Sea Anti-Dandruff Salt Scrubs as a wet scrub just prior to bathing. Just wet your dog down and massage a handful or two deeply into the fur. The massage will feel wonderful to your dog and the aromatherapy will calm him even more. Next shampoo and condition your dog with DERMagic liquid or bar shampoo and conditioner and rinse thoroughly. After drying you will notice the dandruff will be gone!

what is a skin yeast infection and will this work for my pet?

Skin yeast infections in pets are more common in pets with wrinkles, such as Shar-Pei's, but can occur on any breed or pet. It is characterized by oily skin and hairloss in severe cases. To get rid of Yeast Dermatitis, or yeast infections on the skin, use something that has anti-fungal properties since yeast is s a fungus that grows on the surface of the skin. For mild cases, try one of the Skin Rescue products, such as the Skin Rescue Shampoo Bar and Skin Rescue Lotion. For severe cases, try the DERMagic System to help get rid of the yeast infection faster.

My dog itches and scratches constantly. Can DERMagic help?

Yes, DERMagic products are designed to reduce irritation and itching. The DERMagic Anti-Dandruff Salt Scrub is specifically designed to reduce dandruff and eliminate excess oils which may cause irritation to your pet.

How can I prevent hot spots?

Hot spots are almost always caused by an underlying infection or allergy or even a flea bite, any of which can be very difficult to identify. With good diet, active flea prevention and good grooming, hot spots will be minimized. But almost every dog will suffer from hot spots at some time in his life, no matter how well cared for. Always have DERMagic Skin Rescue Lotion or Hot Spot Salve on hand for those occasions.

Can DERMagic products help with allergies?

An allergy is a reaction to a specific allergen. Our products cannot cure an allergy, however the secondary response is itching and scratching, which opens the skin and leads to infection, hot spots, sores, hair loss and potentially mange. We recommend you start off with the DERMagic System and eliminate the itching/scratching cycle before it leads to bigger problems.

Does DERMagic clear up puppy acne?

Yes, DERMagic Skin Rescue Lotion and/or Hot Spot Salve relieve puppy acne. Puppy acne is a secondary reaction to a depressed immune system or bad diet. For this reason, we also recommend an organic raw food diet to get their system straightened out over the long term, while DERMagic gets rid of the "zits" in the short term.

How do I know how much product to apply to my pet?

Similar to the way you would use a hand lotion or a face cream, you should start with a small amount and add more for broader coverage. There is no right or wrong amount as long as you make sure the entire irritated or infected area is completely covered.

When will I see results?

It depends. Some pets may begin to show improvement after a few uses of the DERMagic products, while others may take several months. It all depends on your pet's specific conditon, severity of the condition, and your pet's unique physiology and skin composition. Patience and a regular treatment schedule are key for ensuring that these products can do their job for your pet.

My pet's skin is red and irritated, are they having a bad reaction to the product?

Red, slightly inflammed skin is common within the first few treatments. This occurs from the products working on the cellular level to purge the dead skin and any infections. The body is working with the ingredients in the products to remove the harmful materials, which may appear as red or inflammed skin, flakiness, and even a brownish-tinge to an area. This should clear up with a few more treatments. If the discoloration, inflammation, and flakiness do not improve or your pet seems particularly irritated with the area, consult your veterinarian to ensure they are not having an adverse reaction to the products.

My pet is having an adverse reaction to the product, what should I do?

While uncommon, it is possible for your pet to have an adverse reaction to the products. If this occurrs, immediately discontinue use and contact your veterinarian. You may wash your pet with clean water to remove any product that may be on their skin and coat to stop the reaction from progressing.
